Report Prepared: February 16, 2012

Justin Blackmon is the top receiver in the 2012 draft. He's just the second two-time Biletnikoff Award winner for college football's best wideout as he terrorized opposing defenses for the past two years at Oklahoma State.

Blackmon is very well-built for a receiver. He has a thick body, long arms, big hands and good height. He uses his body well to set up defenders, giving his QB a big target on short or inside routes. He is a beast to take down after the catch, always fighting for extra yards and falling forward traits you typically use to describe a running back. He is a fiery competitor and loves to play football, so work ethic should not be an issue for him.

The big knock on Blackmon is his lack of top end speed. He doesn't seem to have that extra gear to run past defensive backs on deep routes. He's also had momentary lapses in focus, in one case fumbling away a sure touchdown, with no defenders near him, at a key point in the game.

Even with the speed concerns, Blackmon should be the first WR off the board and a top 5 pick and should quickly become a matchup nightmare in the short/intermediate areas. If he runs a 4.5 or less forty at the combine, he'll give the Rams a lot more to think about at #2.

Compares to (Current NFL Player): Michael Crabtree (with better hands)

Strengths
- Exceptional hands and body control, can catch anything thrown his way
- Tough runner after the catch, does not go down easily
- Precise route runner, very smooth in and out of his cuts
- Passionate competitor, does whatever it takes to win, including blocking

Weaknesses
- Lacks top end speed to run away from defenders
- Loses focus at times, putting the ball on the ground
- Character concerns after DUI last year
