NFL 2011 Continuous Live Draft Round 2 (Picks 33-48)
Continuous Live Draft
| 33 | New England |
Ras-I Dowling Virginia CB Reach/Value: -27 |
Height: 6'1" Weight: 198 |
CMD#31 Pre-Draft Pick Jason Pinkston Live Mock Simulated Pick Mikel LeShoure |
| A bit surprised Belichick & Co. went DB with this pick & even more surprised they actually utilized the selection. Dowling was at one time considered a 1st round pick both last year & very early this year. He suffered through injuries dropping his stock. Dowling adds major depth to a young secondary that includes recent picks Meriweather, Chung, Butler & McCourty. Grade: C+ |
| 34 | Buffalo |
Aaron Williams Texas CB Reach/Value: -5 |
Height: 6'0" Weight: 204 |
CMD#31 Pre-Draft Pick Christian Ponder Live Mock Simulated Pick Andy Dalton |
| The Bills can use Williams at CB, but they've probably got him pegged at Safety with the expectation that Donte Whitner will be moving on. Nice player at position of need. Grade: A |
| 35 | Cincinnati |
Andy Dalton TCU QB Reach/Value: -20 |
Height: 6'2" Weight: 215 |
CMD#31 Pre-Draft Pick Stephen Paea Live Mock Simulated Pick Andy Dalton |
| And the Bengals get their QB! They needed one & now they have one. Dalton was a fast riser & was mentioned by some as a potential Top 20 pick. He's available here & fills a position of need. Dalton to Green may become a common thing to hear over the next few years. Grade: B+ |
| 36 | San Francisco |
Colin Kaepernick Nevada QB Reach/Value: -32 |
Height: 6'5" Weight: 233 |
CMD#31 Pre-Draft Pick Kyle Rudolph Live Mock Simulated Pick Colin Kaepernick |
| The 49ers passed on the QBs early on Day 1 but trade up with the Broncos to nab the former Wolfpack star. He is a raw prospect but is a great competitor & field general. Coach Harbaugh will need to develop him & resigning Alex Smith for a year or two could let the rook ease into the role. Grade: A- |
| 37 | Cleveland |
Jabaal Sheard Pittsburgh OLB34 Reach/Value: -8 |
Height: 6'3 Weight: 264 |
CMD#31 Pre-Draft Pick Brooks Reed Live Mock Simulated Pick Brooks Reed |
| The Browns get their first of two DEs in Sheard. Jabaal is a great edge rusher who can play some OLB as well. Look for him in a variety of roles. Sheard has a nice repetoire of inside moves as well. Love this Pick! ~ Browns@drafttek.com Grade: A |
| 38 | Arizona |
Ryan Williams Virginia Tech RBF Reach/Value: -6 |
Height: 5'9" Weight: 212 |
CMD#31 Pre-Draft Pick Ryan Mallett Live Mock Simulated Pick Ryan Mallett |
| The Cardinals have expressed disappointment with both Beanie and Hightower consistently being injured and have been expressing interest in taking a RB semi-early in this draft. Nobody expected it to be this early and they once again passed on a QB, this time passing on Mallett. Overall, Williams has just as much talent as Beanie did coming out and if any of the QBs are to succeed, they'll need someone consistently running the ball. Think he's a slight reach here but not much. Grade: B |
| 39 | Tennessee |
Akeem Ayers UCLA OLB34 Reach/Value: -13 |
Height: 6'3" Weight: 254 |
CMD#31 Pre-Draft Pick Davon House Live Mock Simulated Pick Brandon Harris |
| The Titans need a lot of help on defense, among those being CB, DE & LB. They opt for the former Bruin over Bowers or a few of the remaining corners. Ayers' sock fluctuated often the last 2+ months & he finds a home early in round 2. He's versatile but lacks a tenacity/mean streak necessary to star in NFL. Will be solid SAM LB & fills need. Not bad. Grade: B |
| 40 | Dallas |
Bruce Carter North Carolina OLB34 Reach/Value: -43 |
Height: 6'2" Weight: 241 |
CMD#31 Pre-Draft Pick Marcus Gilbert Live Mock Simulated Pick Christian Ballard |
| Carter still has some questions about being able to play in the upcoming season, but Dallas has an incredibly good player long-term. He'll need to move inside for the Cowboys' 3-4 scheme, but Carter has excellent foot speed and agility, good balance and exceptional change of direction. Carter has a solid ability to get after runners in pursuit. Good Fluid in the hips, serious hitter that won't take a bad angle on a tackle. Phenomenal speed and verticality, will give the Cowboys serious speed defensively. Grade: B+ |

| 41 | Washington |
Jarvis Jenkins Clemson DE34 Reach/Value: -39 |
Height: 6'4" Weight: 310 |
CMD#31 Pre-Draft Pick Phil Taylor Live Mock Simulated Pick Stephen Paea |
| Good pick by the Redskins FO. A need pick, Jenkins will be put squarely in the middle of the DL and he will be asked to entertain double teams and eat up blockers. A captain at Clemson, he's a clean prospect from an injury standpoint and off the field. He will need to get much stronger but he is stout against the run. He won't be asked to rush the passer but will be expected to simply hold the point of attack. A lot of other prospects on the board that were better names but, again, the Skins show that the culture is changing. Grade B+ Scott Lilliston Drafttek.. |
| 42 | Houston |
Brooks Reed Arizona OLB34 Reach/Value: +4 |
Height: 6' 2" Weight: 263 |
CMD#31 Pre-Draft Pick DeAndre McDaniel Live Mock Simulated Pick Brandon Harris |
| Strength at point of attack, good outside rusher and will be able to be plugged and played in the Texans 3-4. Quick, big motor-guy and has good ability to diagnose a play. Smart player, exceptional hustle and will be able to get better as he's coached up by the Texan coaching staff. Grade: B |
| 43 | Minnesota |
Kyle Rudolph Notre Dame TE Reach/Value: +11 |
Height: 6'6" Weight: 259 |
CMD#31 Pre-Draft Pick Leonard Hankerson Live Mock Simulated Pick Da'Quan Bowers |
| On the surface TE may not seem like a huge need. However all their current TE options are free agents following the 2011 season. Rudolph was a fringe 1st round pick & easily the best TE in the draft. He has injury concerns but is a solid pass-catching option. Nice value here. Grade: A- |
| 44 | Detroit |
Titus Young Boise State WRS Reach/Value: -2 |
Height: 5'11" Weight: 174 |
CMD#31 Pre-Draft Pick Mason Foster Live Mock Simulated Pick Da'Quan Bowers |
| OMG! This is a real surprise. Young is a nice complement to Calvin Johnson and Nate Burleson. I see Young as a WR who will become a member of the Lions slot receiver by committee club. I would have prefered OLB Mason Foster, or even CB Davon House. If Mayhew and Schwartz feel that Young is the guy, then that's OK by me. BTW - Derrick Williams can pack his bags. |
| 45 | Denver |
Rahim Moore UCLA FS Reach/Value: -19 |
Height: 6'0" Weight: 202 |
CMD#31 Pre-Draft Pick Ras-I Dowling Live Mock Simulated Pick Stephen Paea |
| Incredibly fluid safety who flips his hips well and has fantastic hands, good range across the field and will be able to help cover the slot receiver for Denver. Stout coming up in run support, almost always taking good angles. Will get the opportunity to learn his craft under some talented veteran secondary players, and the Broncos also get an ideal citizen to boot. Grade: B+ |
| 46 | Denver |
Orlando Franklin Miami (FL) LOT Reach/Value: -58 |
Height: 6'6" Weight: 316 |
CMD#31 Pre-Draft Pick Marcus Cannon Live Mock Simulated Pick Stephen Paea |
| Franklin has the size & versatility to play RT or inside at OG. He has a lot of experience, playing since his freshman year. There are some attitude issues & durability concerns. He also needs refining in pass protection. He fills a need but is a bit of a reach. Could be a great pick if he matures. Grade: B |
| 47 | St Louis |
Lance Kendricks Wisconsin TE Reach/Value: -61 |
Height: 6'3" Weight: 243 |
CMD#31 Pre-Draft Pick Jonathan Baldwin Live Mock Simulated Pick Mason Foster |
| The Rams get the best healthy TE in the draft, but with a 3rd round grade this isn't what I expected. Kendricks has great hands but is small for the position (6'3"/243). I'm confused to the logic of drafting 3 TE's over the past 2 years. Overall this is a reach and not a position of need so as a fan I'm not too excited. Grade: C |
| 48 | Oakland |
Stefen Wisniewski Penn State OC Reach/Value: +23 |
Height: 6'3" Weight: 313 |
CMD#31 Pre-Draft Pick Stefen Wisniewski Live Mock Simulated Pick Stefen Wisniewski |
| The silver & black faithful know the name "Wisniewski" well. The former Nittany Lion is a versatile mauler inside who can play both center & guard. This pick made too much sense. The Raiders interior line needed an upgrade and the next generation Wisniewski is a great fit. He'll work with uncle Steve - a Raiders legend. Great value, too! Grade: A |
