Your offensive options for the 2021 season:
  1. Use the RD1 pick on an offensive playmaker such as DeVonta Smith, Rondale Moore, etc. Continue the status quo at QB with Nick Foles and the likes of Blake Bortles/Josh Rosen/Case Keenum/Blaine Gabbert/Mike Glennon. High expectations there will be for this new WR, but he won't immediately be able to replace departing stud Allen Robinson.
  2. Pick the best available QB in RD1. This player is represented by Kyle Trask here, but more losing in the down-spiraling Bears' remaining games could provide more options. In this scenario, the Bears will wait until RD2 to target a WR, and hopefully add solid talent at the position through Free Agency, where there will be stiff competition to land the likes of Chris Godwin, Kenny Golliday, Will Fuller, or maybe Robinson again.
Fans would revolt if the Bears didn't at least attempt an upgrade of the QB situation. In this mock, the last of the five RD1-grade QBs is the pick, but when the draft comes round in April, teams like Minnesota, New England, and New Orleans will also be in the hunt for a new signal-caller, so getting a franchise-potential QB is no sure thing.

Florida's Trask, along with BYU's Zach Wilson, represent the draft's biggest risers at QB during the 2020 season. Trask leads the NCAA in touchdown passes with 34 versus just 3 picks against quality SEC secondaries. In deep passing (attempts 20 yards downfield), Trask has completed a whopping 65.8% of his passes (24 of 38) with 11 TDs and a 146.4 NFL rating. Again to be repeated: Trask faces SEC secondaries and pass rushers. Is Trask mobile enough for today's NFL? Well, his size (6'5" 239) had Trask initially pigeon-holed as a traditional Ben Roethlisberger drop-back passer, but Florida HC Dan Mullen challeged Trask to improve as a runner. He's no Josh Allen, but Trask has shown some ability with his feet in 2020, with 19 carries (10 of those scrambles) for 105 yards in 8 games.

At press time, Trask is the Heisman Trophy leader, according to this Heisman odds tracker, and he'd certainly bring some optimism to Bears' fans. Now about those receivers...

BEARS HISTORICAL DRAFT PICKS

Reach/Value (R/V) Explained
The difference between where a player is selected in the NFL draft versus where the player was listed on the final Drafttek Big Board for the season in question.
Example: A player who was listed at #50 on the Big Board and was selected at #35 will be a "Reach" of -15. Alternately, a player listed at #35 on the Big Board who was selected at #50 is a +15 "Value".

Simply put: a positive number is a Value pick, a negative number is a Reach.
