Better pressure, improving players, better communication, and a change in the usage of A.J. Klein have garnered 30 sacks (6th) and 53 TFLs (7th) by using only the 10th-most blitzes, suggesting the front four is getting it done without help on passing downs. Much of that is DC Leslie Frazier's willingness to dial up simulated pressures. It isn't just Sam Darnold who's seen ghosts: Kyler Murray, Russell Wilson, Patrick Mahomes, and now Justin Herbert have all had sub-par passing games against the Bills' defense. The Chargers' top wideout, Keenan Allen, was effectively neutralized (4 catches of 10 targets for 40 yds), a week after he set the Chargers' record for receptions in a game.

The rush defense is certainly "improving", with this one game vaulting them from 3rd-worst to 8th-worst. The Chargers had 24 carries for 74 yards, a scant 3.1 yards per attempt. The changed play of A.J. Klein played a significant role, as he led the team with 14 tackles. Tremaine Edmunds (11 tackles) has become a true defensive QB, and his shoulder's vastly improved. There's still work to be done, though. At minimum, the Bills need a true 1-tech. Harrison Phillips had real trouble out there in that role against a sub-par set of RBs, and down the stretch, the Steelers (9th in rush YPG) and the Dolphins (3rd) will pound that inside run game. I spotted Vernon Butler playing 1-tech on Sunday, but he's a free agent in 2022. Oliver, Zimmer, and Horrible Harry are 3-techs. You're in trouble when Brandin Bryant is your highest-graded IDL at 62.4 per PFF, and opt-out Lotulelei turns 31 on New Years' Eve. A sure-tackling OLB with better range and athleticism than Klein, FS depth, and a taller CB would be nice adds on D.

Hamsah Nasirildeen's size, speed, and his S/OLB versatility is a savvy pick by our computer this week, and remember Milano was a S/OLB. Isaiah McDuffie of BC is also a great option in RD3.

The offense is sloppy, and that won't fly in the coming weeks. The defense ably covered the offense's 3 turnovers in 7 plays (Singletary fumble, Josh Allen fumble, Josh Allen INT) by surrendering only 3 points, but again, those Steelers (1st in turnover differential at +12) and Fins (5th with +6) will take better advantage of Josh being Josh. Offensive needs are two OL, WRS (slot) depth with KR ability, and a fast 220-lb. RB. Read more on our DraftTek Bills Draft Page to see all Bills' picks at once!

BILLS HISTORICAL DRAFT PICKS

Reach/Value (R/V) Explained
The difference between where a player is selected in the NFL draft versus where the player was listed on the final Drafttek Big Board for the season in question.
Example: A player who was listed at #50 on the Big Board and was selected at #35 will be a "Reach" of -15. Alternately, a player listed at #35 on the Big Board who was selected at #50 is a +15 "Value".

Simply put: a positive number is a Value pick, a negative number is a Reach.
