A combo-plate FS CB with tremendous savvy and athleticism sounds exactly what the Bills need to sustain life after Hyde-Poyer, both age 29. The Bills have discovered an emerging star in former Hurricane Jaquan Johnson at SS, but Free Safety Dean Marlowe, a Brandon Beane Retread Special (former Panther, UDFA, 1-year contract), needs some better competition.

The cornerback picture is murkier than it was before Josh Norman and Levi Wallace's soft-tissue injuries last week and this week, respectively. Given the importance of the position, the RD7 selection of CB Dane Jackson felt like "too little too late" in last year's draft.

Israel Mukuamu, a 6'3" defensive back who'll likely run a 4.3 forty, only gave up 19 catches on 286 coverage snaps at Cornerback last season. It gets better. Of those 19 catches, 13 went for 9 yards or fewer. Teams just don't test Izzy deep. He'll switch to FS this year, a position I feel he'll play in the pros.

Mukuamu's best game last year, ironically, was in SC's overtime upset of Georgia. Mukuamu torched Jake Fromm for 3 INTs, one for a pick-six. Let's put it another way: if 19% of Jake Fromm's career INTs were thrown to Israel Mukuamu in one game, the Bills better draft him. In big games, the dude can tackle, too: Mukuamu put up eight tackles versus Alabama and an 11-burger against Georgia in the upset.

BILLS HISTORICAL DRAFT PICKS

Reach/Value (R/V) Explained
The difference between where a player is selected in the NFL draft versus where the player was listed on the final Drafttek Big Board for the season in question.
Example: A player who was listed at #50 on the Big Board and was selected at #35 will be a "Reach" of -15. Alternately, a player listed at #35 on the Big Board who was selected at #50 is a +15 "Value".

Simply put: a positive number is a Value pick, a negative number is a Reach.
