It feels like we have gone from Super Bowl parade to final roster cuts in the blink of an eye. The virtual draft, the lack of training camp hype, the cancellation of the preseason --all of it reminds me how much the sport of football is really as much about the anticipation of the game as it is the game itself. We football junkies love the weekly scrutiny and prep leading up to the game. And, we love to comb through team rosters in the off season looking for areas of improvement.

This offseason lacked the splashy free agent signings for KC. Clark Hunt improved his team by securing the key elements that led to last year's NFL Championship. Veach and Reid earned 6-year extensions. The savior of the franchise, Patrick Mahomes, was secured for 10 years. Chris Jones and Travis Kelce both contracted for 4 more years. The Chiefs kept 18 of 22 starters and added Clyde Edwards-Helaire in the 2020 NFL Draft. A dynasty is now clearly in Hunt's sight.

Scrolling though the list of 80 players on the roster, as of 9/2, it is clear that the Chiefs' most-tenured players line up at backup QB (a revolving door in today's NFL) and on the OLine. Center is an obvious spot for upgrade; but, with the top option off the board, the Chiefs add an OT who has a proven track record at both Tackle positions in a high-volume passing offense. As a redshirt freshman at RT, Sam Cosmi allowed 25 pressures. Switching to LT in 2018, he only allowed 14. ... Oh, btw, his trainer is former Chiefs' RB Derrick Blaylock.

DraftTek introduces team pages this month. The Chiefs' Team Page shows the entire roster of Kansas City picks for Consensus Mock Draft #4 consolidated on one page, in addition to tean needs and historical draft picks.

CHIEFS HISTORICAL DRAFT PICKS

Reach/Value (R/V) Explained
The difference between where a player is selected in the NFL draft versus where the player was listed on the final Drafttek Big Board for the season in question.
Example: A player who was listed at #50 on the Big Board and was selected at #35 will be a "Reach" of -15. Alternately, a player listed at #35 on the Big Board who was selected at #50 is a +15 "Value".

Simply put: a positive number is a Value pick, a negative number is a Reach.
