The Trevor Lawrence train is full steam ahead on its way to Jacksonville!
Lawrence had successful surgery to repair a torn labrum in his non-throwing shoulder on February 16. This was to make sure he would be available by the start of OTA's and training camp. His recovery appears to be on track, as Lawrence recently posted three Instagram photos documenting his rehabilitation process.

Trevor is determined to stay in shape and on track. I think his injured shoulder is also what caused him to weigh in a little lighter than expected at a paltry 213 pounds. Knowing Lawrence and his work ethic, I imagine he would like to have his playing weight at around 225 by the time he starts his rookie season. Jaguars' fans should continue to count down the days until they draft the player that will change their franchise FOREVER!!!

I've been pounding the table for the Jags to select an OT with this pick, given the critical need to protect T-Law. I believe GM Trent Baalke is actively considering a trade-up option to draft Chris Darrisaw or Sam Cosmi, but sometimes (no thanks to your corny pick-up lines) the girls just don't want to dance.

Look who's back in town!! Rashod Bateman had a spectacular sophomore season at Minnesota, posting 60 catches for 1219 yards (20.3 ypc!) and 11 TD. He was considered RD1 material in all the pre-season mocks. After a 2020 season where Bateman played in just 5 games due to COVID, producing just-okay stats (36-472-2TD), he tumbled down draft boards - all the way to late-RD2 on some unenlightened competitor boards. The emergence of all the attention-getting WRs (Smith, Toney, E. Moore, Eskridge, etc) left Bateman forgotten outside the 10000-lake region.
Then THIS happened!
Bateman will join a receiving roon that's been depleted by Free Agency, but still boasts Laviska Shenault and D.J. Chark for 2021.

The Jags desperately need to find some help at the Tackle spots - both of them - despite what HC Urban Meyer said a few weeks ago. Agreed, a total rebuild is not necessary; the IOL is in nice shape with Norwell, Cann, and Linder.
In previous mocks, we've had the Jags selecting an OT with the #25 pick, but with the top-tier prospects off the board, the Jags looked for value at other positions, rather than repeat the "reach-fails" of recent drafts; see 2019 PHI Andre Dillard, and HOU Tytus Howard. Mayfield leads a strong group of Tier 1-B Tackle prospects that include Liam Eichenberg, Jackson Carman, and Walker Little, Mayfield gained notoriety in 2019 as perhaps the only OT who was able to slow down Chase Young.

DL is a must-need fill for a Jaguars' team that was 30th against stopping the run, average 153 yards per game.

Big and strong enough to play the Nose at NC State, McNeill also has the athleticism and agility to be more effective as a 3-down 3-technique in the NFL. McNeill was graded 90.7 by PFF, the highest score for a defensive lineman in the Power-5 conferences. Here's a great interview with McNeill by former DraftTek analyst, and current BBC commentator Rob Staton.

JAGUARS HISTORICAL DRAFT PICKS
Reach/Value (R/V) Explained
The difference between where a player is selected in the NFL draft versus where the player was listed on the final Drafttek Big Board for the season in question.Example: A player who was listed at #50 on the Big Board and was selected at #35 will be a "Reach" of -15. Alternately, a player listed at #35 on the Big Board who was selected at #50 is a +15 "Value".
Simply put: a positive number is a Value pick, a negative number is a Reach.
