The Steelers needed to address the feeble run game, last in the league in yards per rushing attempt, in this draft. Tomlin and GM Kevin Colbert attended Harris's Pro Day and showed obvious interest through the draft process. Harris is a big back with quickness and soft hands. He fits the team's preference as a feature back that can stay on the field for all three downs. Harris was very productive for the Tide with 2600+ yards and 39 TDs over the last two years. Critical to contributing early, Harris is an excellent pass protector. The team passed on O-Line here in the first, something they'll have to address in Day 2 from this deep class.

The Steelers really, really like Freiermuth. The TE coach Alfredo Roberts worked him out at his pro day where the connection between the two was apparent. Freiermuth has been a weapon for Penn State although the drop off in QB play has kept him under the radar a bit. The Steelers do have a hole in the roster with the retirement of Vance McDonald. This grade is not a slight on Freirmuth, but the team with the last place rushing attack in the NFL that lost 3 OL starters, needs to build the line before adding more skill position guys.

The Steelers needed a center badly in this draft and they finally get one. Green is a good athlete who's only played center for a couple of games. At his Pro Day he showed an explosive lower body with a 36" vert and a 9'11" Broad Jump. He plays through the whistle with toughness. A B1G first team election who started 33 games, he's an interesting player to develop. He should be able to push incumbent starter Finney for a starting role by mid-season if not sooner.

STEELERS HISTORICAL DRAFT PICKS
Reach/Value (R/V) Explained
The difference between where a player is selected in the NFL draft versus where the player was listed on the final Drafttek Big Board for the season in question.Example: A player who was listed at #50 on the Big Board and was selected at #35 will be a "Reach" of -15. Alternately, a player listed at #35 on the Big Board who was selected at #50 is a +15 "Value".
Simply put: a positive number is a Value pick, a negative number is a Reach.
