Alex Leatherwood is about as safe a prospect as you can get. Four years of accolades and film at the pinnacle if college football should give evaluators confidence. He played both guard and tackle for the Crimson Tide. While the Steelers need at tackle is more pressing than guard, Leatherwood is a versatile chess piece who should have several penciled in starters looking over their shoulder. <

Leatherwood has a long frame and very long arms that he uses effectively in pass protection. At the Senior Bowl he showed well but struggled a little with elite rushers. His lack of elite lower body quickness might limit his ceiling slightly, but he certainly has all the tools to become a quality NFL starter.

With this pick, the Steelers add a pro-ready center with abundant power, a nonstop motor, and a finisher's mentality. Dickerson isn't the elite athlete that Pouncey was. You won't see the blocks 20 yards downfield.
What you will see is a stouter pocket and some better push at the line of scrimmage. Of course, Dickerson has a medical file longer than Mel Kiper's 1979 NFL Draft Report, but the Steelers will trust their medical team to evaluate Dickerson's medical issues. The team generally isn't superstitious about "injury-prone" players so he should be on their draft board.

STEELERS HISTORICAL DRAFT PICKS
Reach/Value (R/V) Explained
The difference between where a player is selected in the NFL draft versus where the player was listed on the final Drafttek Big Board for the season in question.Example: A player who was listed at #50 on the Big Board and was selected at #35 will be a "Reach" of -15. Alternately, a player listed at #35 on the Big Board who was selected at #50 is a +15 "Value".
Simply put: a positive number is a Value pick, a negative number is a Reach.
