The Vikings squeaked out a victory against the Panthers and somehow lost to the Cowboys since the last mock. They now have a 5-6 record and are only one game out of the last playoff spot, with upcoming games against the Jaguars and Buccaneers. If they win those two, they will be in a stronger playoff position. If they split, then the road to the playoffs is tougher.

Ezra Cleveland has missed the last two weeks, so his evaluation as a Right Guard has been paused. The Vikings should look to upgrade the left side of the line if they are drafting in the middle of the first round. It would put them out of position for one of the top Quarterbacks. Since the 2021 salary is expected to be around $175M, the Vikings will need to make tough decisions. Riley Reiff is one of the first players that is likely to be asked to take another massive pay cut or get traded or released.

In this upcoming draft, there are more Offensive Tackles with first-round grades than Offensive Guards. Grabbing an Offensive Tackle probably makes the most sense, especially one that has experience at Guard.

Alex Leatherwood has been at the top of most draft boards all season and will be one of the best players to enter the NFL 2021 Draft. He has seen time in 43 career games with 36 consecutive starts dating back to 2018. Leatherwood is huge, strong, and fairly athletic. He has experience at Guard and Tackle, which increases his value. Leatherwood's run-blocking ability where some consider him a mauler is what really should excite the Vikings. They just gave Dalvin Cook a very large extension, and improving the blocking for him is the best way to maximize their return on investment.

The Vikings would be wise to continue investing top draft picks on the offensive linemen to maximize the effectiveness of their many offensive weapons.

VIKINGS HISTORICAL DRAFT PICKS

Reach/Value (R/V) Explained
The difference between where a player is selected in the NFL draft versus where the player was listed on the final Drafttek Big Board for the season in question.
Example: A player who was listed at #50 on the Big Board and was selected at #35 will be a "Reach" of -15. Alternately, a player listed at #35 on the Big Board who was selected at #50 is a +15 "Value".

Simply put: a positive number is a Value pick, a negative number is a Reach.
