MIN g NYJ (draft trade)
The Vikings saw two of the top 3 Tackles fall to Pick #10 and sat patiently. The Chargers took Rashawn Slater at Pick #13, which left Christian Darrisaw, our third-ranked Tackle, for the Vikings who needed a Left Tackle in the worst way. What did they do? They trade down with the Jets giving up Pick #14 and #143 to get Picks #23, #66, and #86. In the meantime, they saw Alijah Vera-Tucker and Alex Leatherwood come off the board.
Rick Spielman did a masterful job of knowing his rivals and taking the chance of a player he really liked being still available. The Vikings get quite a steal at Pick #23 by taking Darrisaw, who was ranked #14 on the DraftTek big board. Darrisaw is the third-ranked Tackle on most draft boards, and is a solid player who feels specifically like a zone-blocking scheme Left Tackle only.
The Vikings can now feel set at Left Tackle and only need another Guard to have their offensive line totally re-built. This grade, combined with the trade-down, can be nothing but an A++

Vikings fans rejoice; we have an exciting QB of the Future. This is a perfect fit for Mond, as Kirk Cousins' contract guarantees he's not going anywhere for two years. Mond can sit and learn and develop and his ceiling is extremely high.

Eric Wilson has been playing well but Anthony Barr is gone after this year. Troy Dye had a decent rookie season, but the Vikings needed another LB. Chazz Surratt is strong, fast and quick. He's a very physically-gifted player and could develop well.

MIN g NYJ (draft trade)
Could this draft be going better for the Vikings? They just picked the best OG in the draft in RD 3. Anyone is an upgrade over Dakota Dozier, but Wyatt Davis is a bonafide stud. This has been an incredible draft for Minnesota so far. I don't want to keep giving the Vikings great grades, but they keep making great picks.

MIN g BAL (Y Ngakoue trade)
Mike Zimmer must have been having heart palpitations with all the offensive players the Vikings have been taking. Patrick Jones II has good pass rush moves, he's a smart pass rusher. The Vikings need an EDGE rusher to work in with Stephen Weatherly and DJ Wonnom. Jones II should also be coached up by the great Andre Patterson. It's a solid pick.

VIKINGS HISTORICAL DRAFT PICKS
Reach/Value (R/V) Explained
The difference between where a player is selected in the NFL draft versus where the player was listed on the final Drafttek Big Board for the season in question.Example: A player who was listed at #50 on the Big Board and was selected at #35 will be a "Reach" of -15. Alternately, a player listed at #35 on the Big Board who was selected at #50 is a +15 "Value".
Simply put: a positive number is a Value pick, a negative number is a Reach.
