Ten year ago, the Eagles entered draft night with the 15th overall pick, but wound up trading up a few spots to come away with a dominant DT from an SEC school with a Bulldog mascot. In 2022, history has repeated itself. The Eagles trade up from 15 to get in front of the Ravens to select Jordan Davis to serve as the heir apparent to Fletcher Cox.
Davis lit the combine on fire by running a 4.78 forty at 6'6" and 340 lbs., but it was his play at Georgia that laid the groundwork for his selection here. Davis didn't put up huge numbers in terms of sacks, but he was constantly affecting the play, devouring double teams and pushing the pocket. Davis has room to grow as a pass rusher, and with Fletcher Cox as his mentor he has an excellent chance to reach his sky high potential and keep the middle of the Eagles D-line formidable for the foreseeable future.

This one is a little tough for fans who were hoping for a LB with Nakobe Dean still on the board, but Cam Jurgens is a perfect fit in Philly. Jurgens is a hyper-athletic Center who drew comparisons to Jason Kelce and now will have a year to learn the finer points of the position under him.
Eagles continue to put themselves in great position for when their aging stars move on.

The Eagles' patience pays huge dividends as they land a borderline RD 1 talent in the third. A pec injury sent LB Nakobe Dean's draft stock plummeting and his availability for 2022 is in question. While having to fully redshirt Dean for a year isn't ideal, the Eagles have enough talent to hold up with the free agent addition of Kyzir White.
Even if Dean doesn't see the field until 2023 adding a player with his leadership and ability to diagnose plays is well worth the 83rd overall pick.

EAGLES HISTORICAL DRAFT PICKS
Reach/Value (R/V) Explained
The difference between where a player is selected in the NFL draft versus where the player was listed on the final Drafttek Big Board for the season in question.Example: A player who was listed at #50 on the Big Board and was selected at #35 will be a "Reach" of -15. Alternately, a player listed at #35 on the Big Board who was selected at #50 is a +15 "Value".
Simply put: a positive number is a Value pick, a negative number is a Reach.
