Rumors swirled over this pick for the last few days. GM Trent Baalke preferred Walker, while HC Doug Caldwell wanted Ikem Ekwonu to beef up the Lawrence fortress. In the end Baalke wins. Selecting Walker is not without merit, although listed as an edge defender, he can be depolyed all over the line. In a conference that features the two biggest RB studs in the NFL in Derrick Henry and Jonathan Taylor, stopping the running games of those teams can bear fruit.

If developed properly, athletic freak Walker can become perrenial all-pro.

Grade: B (The only A grade would involve a trade down)

The Jaguars traded picks 33, 106 and 180 to snag Devin Lloyd at pick 27. Lloyd is pretty much unanimously considered the top LB in this year's class. A former safety and receiver, Lloyd saw time at both "Mike" and "Will" at Utah. He has sideline-to-sideline range and solid closing speed to deliver the tackle on ball carriers whatever running route they choose to take. He is also a smart and instinctive commander on the field. In 14 games last season, Lloyd tallied 111 total tackles, 22 tackles for loss, 7 sacks, 4 INTs, 6 pass deflections, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and 2 defensive TDs.

Lloyd is this year's version of Micah Parsons. Add in top pick Travon Walker and the Jaguars' front seven just got a whole lot better. For the value alone, I actually like this pick better.

Grade: A

In a need pick, the Jaguars select a replacement for the surprise-retired Brandon Linder, After two defensive picks, the Jaguars make a pick to provide improved protection for franchise QB Trevor Lawrence.

Grade: A-

This is a something of a surprise pick after grabbing Devin Lloyd earlier in the draft, but it's great value as many had Muma as the #2 LB in the draft. Muma hails from Wyoming, where last year's star Bengal draftee Logan Wilson played.
