In a bit of a surprise, the Jets decide to bolster the Defense with the addition of CB Ahmad Gardner. Edge Rusher was a bigger need but as a prospect, this guys is as good as they come. I guess my question would be if it's wise to add someone who can be a dominant shutdown CB on a team that looks like the will be using Zone Coverage. Every Jet fan who watched Revis play can attest to what a shutdown CB can bring to a team, but Revis wasn't the same player in a Zone system in Tampa. Let's hope Robert Saleh can play him in way to make the most of his skillset. From a BPA perspective though, Joe Douglas can be very happy with this pick.

The 21 year wait for the Jets drafting a WR in RD 1 is over as they add a real weapon in the shape of Garrett Wilson here. The Jets interest in Tyreek Hill had the fanbase in a frenzy for every other possible WR than may be available via the trade route, but I think Joe Douglas made the sensible decision of keeping with his "built through the Draft" mantra and nab a new weapon to grow with QB namesake Zach.
Wilson has great hands, is an accomplished Route Runner and has the speed to take the top off a Defense. He brings a new dimension to the Offense that was lacking in real star quality for fans to get behind and is a far cheaper option than those established WR's linked over the process.

Joe Douglas is like a Draft assassin, regularly making moves up and down to find quality additions and yet again he looks to have pulled off a masterstroke to move back up into RD 1 to find the Pass Rusher their Defense needed, Jermaine Johnson. Johnson is an every-down player that represents fantastic value here and will be a perfect foil to play opposite Carl Lawson.
Most fans would have been happy to take Johnson at 10 so hats off to Joe Douglas for moving up to add another Day 1 starter. The Jets had plenty of inside information on Johnson, getting a close up view at the Senior Bowl. Jet fans will be hoping that he can have as big an impact as his 12 Sack final season for the Seminoles, but leaving RD 1 with a Trio of talented picks will keep fans smiling and GM Douglas firmly in their good books.

Joe Douglas is making this draft thing look easy. Yet again he gets rewarded for moving up a couple of spots to land another playmaker in the shape of Breece Hall. When you can nab the highest ranked players on our Big Board at CB, WR and now RB, you've got to be happy with the job the Jets GM is doing. A Carter-Hall 1-2 punch is going to be exciting to watch.

2022 Draft trade
The Jets grab local product Jeremy Ruckert from Lindenhurst LI. The 2018 NY State Gatorade player of the year wasn't used much for pass-catching at Ohio State with their consistently stellar stable of WRs, but don't be surprised if he's a better pro in that regard than a collegian. And of course he's a stellar blocking TE.

JETS HISTORICAL DRAFT PICKS
Reach/Value (R/V) Explained
The difference between where a player is selected in the NFL draft versus where the player was listed on the final Drafttek Big Board for the season in question.Example: A player who was listed at #50 on the Big Board and was selected at #35 will be a "Reach" of -15. Alternately, a player listed at #35 on the Big Board who was selected at #50 is a +15 "Value".
Simply put: a positive number is a Value pick, a negative number is a Reach.
