Before Free Agency, Safety was arguably the Ravens' biggest positional need. The signing of Marcus Williams meant that the team could afford to look elsewhere on draft day. However, nobody expected Kyle Hamilton to fall this far, and he was easily the BPA. The Eagles jumped ahead to pick 13 to take Jordan Davis, but the Ravens end up with a higher-rated defender. Hamilton can play multiple roles in this defense and he doesn't necessarily steal Chuck Clark's Strong Safety spot. Forget about the 40 time, Hamilton is an awesome player who immediately improves this team.

The road to pick 25 was a complicated, but fruitful, one for the Ravens. Firstly, Marquise 'Hollywood' Brown, and a third-round pick, were shipped to the Cardinals for pick 23. The Bills then moved up to 23 to select Kaiir Elam; the Ravens got 25 and a fourth-round pick (130.) The disappointing Brown is not much of a loss; Hollywood reunites with his Oklahoma QB, Kyler Murray.
We have often mocked Tyler Linderbaum to the Ravens at pick 14 so to get him at 25 represents more outstanding work by the front office. Linderbaum is slightly undersized, but he's an excellent player. The O-line suddenly looks much stronger as Linderbaum slots in to replace Bradley Bozeman who signed for the Panthers in Free Agency.

The Ravens continue to make solid draft moves. David Ojabo broke out in 2021 with 11 sacks and 12 TFL. Yes, there's risk selecting a player who will likely miss the entire 2022 season after rupturing his achilles during Michigan's pro day. However, Ojabo would have been selected high in RD1 before the injury and will hopefully return in 2023 at full throttle.

The Ravens are good at drafting and the best player available philosophy is working beautifully. Travis Jones is another great value pick for DeCosta/Harbaugh -- a nimble D Tackle who has starter potential. Michael Pierce returned to the team in Free Agency, but Jones will be the long-term replacement for Brandon Williams.

RAVENS HISTORICAL DRAFT PICKS
Reach/Value (R/V) Explained
The difference between where a player is selected in the NFL draft versus where the player was listed on the final Drafttek Big Board for the season in question.Example: A player who was listed at #50 on the Big Board and was selected at #35 will be a "Reach" of -15. Alternately, a player listed at #35 on the Big Board who was selected at #50 is a +15 "Value".
Simply put: a positive number is a Value pick, a negative number is a Reach.
