The Vikings traded down from #12 all the way to #32 with their division rival who took Jameson Williams. They got back #34 and #66 but had to give #46. The trade is universally disliked although some of the newer trade models consider it good value. It is difficult to see a drop down 20 spots in the first to move up 12 spots in the second round and picking up a high third as a good deal no matter what newer models claim. But Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has an analytics background and even though he tried to downplay it in his introductory news conference, he showed his true beliefs in this deal.
The team took safety Lewis Cine with the 32nd pick who was ranked 35th on the big board so not too much of a reach. Cine is 6'2" 202 with 32 1/2" arms. He ran a 4.37 forty had a 37" vertical and a 11'1" broad jump. He is a two year starter at Georgia playing free safety. He has good range with his speed and is a more than willing tackler. He is an excellent pick when you consider Harrison Smith is 32 years old and Camryn Bynum only has two starts under his belt.
Grade: C due to the trade value gained.

The Vikings traded the #34 pick to the Packers for the picks 53 and 59. Then, they traded up to the Colts pick sending picks 52, 77. and 192 for picks 42 and 122. They selected the last remaining top Cornerback, Andrew Booth who was #34 on the Drafttek Big board.
Booth has good size at 6-0, 196 with 31 1/2" arms. His chances for Round 1 suffered after a strained quad kept him from running at the Combine. He has quick feet and is an aggressive tackler. He played outside corner in Clemson's man and zone schemes and should fit well in the new Vikings defensive scheme. Grade: B

2022 Draft trade
The Vikings finally stayed put, did not trade their pick and selected another position of need. Ed Ingram started 23 games at Left Guard and 12 games at Right Guard for LSU in LSU's spread zone gap offense. He is 6-3 1/2, 312 with 33 7/8" arms.
He has the power and strength in pass rush sets to handle bull rushers which has been the Achilles heel for Vikings guards for several seasons. He was rated 134th on the Drafttek big board which makes it quite the reach here. The team must have seen something they really like in Ingram.

2022 Draft trade
ILB Brian Asamoah from Oklahoma is 6'0 226 and ran a 4.56 forty. He is undersized but has sideline to sideline speed. He has some pass coverage skills and could become a standout on special teams.
Considering Nakobe Dean was still on the board, practically the same size, and even with Dean's injury that needs surgery, the Vikings would have had a slam dunk draft if they took Dean here.
Grade: D

VIKINGS HISTORICAL DRAFT PICKS
Reach/Value (R/V) Explained
The difference between where a player is selected in the NFL draft versus where the player was listed on the final Drafttek Big Board for the season in question.Example: A player who was listed at #50 on the Big Board and was selected at #35 will be a "Reach" of -15. Alternately, a player listed at #35 on the Big Board who was selected at #50 is a +15 "Value".
Simply put: a positive number is a Value pick, a negative number is a Reach.
