Through the last two weeks of the Draft process, I heard two names consistently over all others; Drake London and Kyle Hamilton. The team was unsure if London would remain on the board, as both the Falcons and Jets had serious interest. With the 6'4" former basketball star still on the board, Washington would pull the trigger on Hamilton, right? Well, nope! Though the trade seems to be good value, Hamilton represented great value at 11. Ron Rivera has repeatedly stated that the team must both surround Wentz with weapons and protect him effectively immediately in 2022. The team's offensive line is in decent shape, so adding a receiver makes sense, but I do often worry about WRs that don't boast high-end separation skills in college. I would have preferred Hamilton, but considering the trade-down, Jahan Dotson is a decent value.

Commanders select Mathis to bolster the middle of the defensive line. The Alabama product has excelled in multiple fronts and will add to an already deep Washington front, drawing attention away from Chase Young and Montez Sweat.

A fifth-year senior, Robinson paid his dues waiting for his shot to be the lead back for the Crimson Tide. He had more touches in 2021 than in his last three seasons combined. Appearing in 13 games in 2021, Robinson got the lion's share of the carries with 248 for 1,268 rushing yards and 14 TD on the season.
Add in his 32 receptions for 268 receiving yards. He joins a crowded backfield for the Commandos and can contribute in a committee arrangement. This pick is not bad, it just does not make sense.

COMMANDERS HISTORICAL DRAFT PICKS
Reach/Value (R/V) Explained
The difference between where a player is selected in the NFL draft versus where the player was listed on the final Drafttek Big Board for the season in question.Example: A player who was listed at #50 on the Big Board and was selected at #35 will be a "Reach" of -15. Alternately, a player listed at #35 on the Big Board who was selected at #50 is a +15 "Value".
Simply put: a positive number is a Value pick, a negative number is a Reach.
