2022 is all about Justin Fields in Chicago. The offseason should have been about arming Fields with a supporting cast to showcase the second-year QB's undoubted talents. However, given the signings so far, it's difficult to see how the offense will improve on 2021's 18.3 points per game. One way to help a QB is to develop a productive run game. The Bears will hope the introduction of a FB, and a outside-zone run scheme, will do more than just improve David Montgomery's fantasy outlook.
The defense was strengthened in the draft, but veteran losses will limit the unit in 2022. If Matt Eberflus can replicate the defensive success he had in Indy, with this talented group, then Chicago can be competitive. The harsh truth is that The Bears are not in 'win-now mode.' The NFC is weak, but The Bears are wise not to fast-track a rebuild at the cost of long-term success. If Fields is not 'the guy' then an early selection in the 2023 Draft should be used to select a QB in a strong QB class. I'm backing Fields to progress, which will allow a high draft pick to be used on another need.

BEARS HISTORICAL DRAFT PICKS
Reach/Value (R/V) Explained
The difference between where a player is selected in the NFL draft versus where the player was listed on the final Drafttek Big Board for the season in question.Example: A player who was listed at #50 on the Big Board and was selected at #35 will be a "Reach" of -15. Alternately, a player listed at #35 on the Big Board who was selected at #50 is a +15 "Value".
Simply put: a positive number is a Value pick, a negative number is a Reach.
