Why not end the hometown draft with the hometown kid?!
Considered one of the purest pass rushers in the draft Felix Anudike-Uzomah, was the key component of the Kansas State defense and catapulted the Wildcats to a Big 12 championship. He was extremely productive in what was essentially only 2 years of football. Anudike-Uzomah tallied 97 total tackles, an incredible 26.5 TFLs, including 20.5 sacks. He finished 2022 with a PFF pass-rush grade of 74.2. The Lee's Summit High School product had the most defensive stops in a season for a Big 12 edge rusher since 2014.
My preferred trade-up for OT was not in the cards, but FAU fills a big need and this player will make the defense so much stronger. This is a Steve Spagnuolo kind of guy all the way - he has good length, long arms, a great bend off the edge, and a motor that doesn't top. Good news! There are several talented OTs, WRs, plus the top TEs available in RD2. Day 2 is going to be an interesting day. (Finally... Way to represent KC fans!)

KC g MIN t DET (Draft Trade)
Mahomes worked out many WRs heading up to the draft and you can bet he was allowed input on this choice. Rashee Rice comes from Chiefs Owner Clark Hunt's alma mater, Southern Methodist University. He has excellent body control and ball tracking skills. He is a shifty route runner, who can create extra separation at the top of the route. He will be dangerous threat in the intermediate to deep passing game. Rice's spatial awareness can create many missed tackles. Grade: C+

KC g CIN (Draft Trade)
This is one of my faves of the draft! Morris boasts positional versatility. He has played every position (except center) on the O-line during his college career. He has great pass protection skills, nice arm length (35.5), plus quick feet and leverage to pave lanes for the run. I wanted KC to take an OT in RD1, Morris will immediately challenge for the RT starting position and can fill for LT when needed. Grade: A

CHIEFS HISTORICAL DRAFT PICKS
Reach/Value (R/V) Explained
The difference between where a player is selected in the NFL draft versus where the player was listed on the final Drafttek Big Board for the season in question.Example: A player who was listed at #50 on the Big Board and was selected at #35 will be a "Reach" of -15. Alternately, a player listed at #35 on the Big Board who was selected at #50 is a +15 "Value".
Simply put: a positive number is a Value pick, a negative number is a Reach.
