Arthur Smith apparently missed Derrick Henry, because he went out and got his Falcons' version. For the third year in a row, Atlanta has eschewed the "positional value" to stockpile weapons for the offense. Robinson was among the top two or three talents in the draft, and that's all it took for Smith to pull the trigger and complete the retooling of the offense along the lines he has been working towards.
Robinson's position is the only thing that led him to fall this far, and Atlanta will be able to spell Cordarelle Patterson and use Tyler Allegeir as a short-yard battering ram. They spent the free agency period retooling the defense, so topping off the offense took priority over adding pass rush or secondary help. For value? This is a B move. For impact? This is an A+ move.

ATL g LV t IND (Draft Trade)
Atlanta has added talent at just about every position group this offseason except the offensive line, most notably the apparent vacancy at LG. Bergeron has some issues in space, and the presumed move inside to guard could allow him to develop into a LT with time. This gives Atlanta a very good run blocking O-line for Robinson with improved pass protection for Ridder. They needed to improve their options at LG and they certainly have. A-

Ryan Nielsen looks to be moving Atlanta to a more 4-3 base defense and that requires a "Big End." Zach Harrison is that "Big End" who can learn for a year behind Calais Campbell. He has admirable physical traits in terms of size, power and length, but he lacks a certain explosiveness. Still, as Campbell's understudy, he could look to become an integral part of the 4-3 DE group. A steady player, rather than an upside pick. B+

FALCONS HISTORICAL DRAFT PICKS
Reach/Value (R/V) Explained
The difference between where a player is selected in the NFL draft versus where the player was listed on the final Drafttek Big Board for the season in question.Example: A player who was listed at #50 on the Big Board and was selected at #35 will be a "Reach" of -15. Alternately, a player listed at #35 on the Big Board who was selected at #50 is a +15 "Value".
Simply put: a positive number is a Value pick, a negative number is a Reach.
