Beating Russell Wilson and his new compatriots on Monday Night Football was likely the only result that Seattle fans truly hoped for this season. Geno Smith and the offense came out swinging and put on a virtuoso performance in the first half culminating in two touchdowns and a field goal for good measure. The next six total quarters of football however, rendered zero points scored by the offense - the lone score in San Francisco coming on a special teams play. The offense's true talent likely lies somewhere in between the two games.

Somehow, Geno Smith has managed to be graded as the 10th best QB in the NFL per PFF's grading system through two weeks. It's surprising considering thst, outside of the first half against Denver, Geno has been forced to checkdown almost exclusively. Both the Broncos and Niners are very good defenses, which may point to the next slate of games (Atlanta and Detroit) as being a better matchup for the Seahawks.

As stated last mock, getting tunnel vision on one signal-caller at this point in the draft process is folly. So far both C.J. Stroud and Bryce Young have had their share of surprising results and poor play while still managing to flash their potential. For now, the mock creates a possibility for Young to be a Seahawk. Despite being a QB on the short side, Young is not a Wilson clone. He's closer to Drew Brees with his footwork and quick passing. A combination that could benefit in a Pete Carroll-Shane Waldron scheme.

Up top we covered the offense through the first two weeks, now it's the defense's turn. This unit really took the Pete Carroll mantra of "defend every blade of grass" to new heights against Denver. Forcing two fumbles on the goal line and holding Russell Wilson to just 16 points. Perfection. San Francisco was a different story as the Niners gashed the Hawks on the ground and were able to control the ball for a little over 38 minutes of gametime, scoring 27 points in the process.

Defensive tackle may not be the most pressing need on this side of the ball, and the Niners are a good rushing attack (or is Kyle Shanahan just good at scheming it up?); but 189 yards and complete control of the game calls for something. Big Al Woods is a one-man wrecking crew that isn't getting any younger. Run stopping help must come from somewhere, be that a new 3-tech tackle or an off-ball linebacker.

Clemson stand-out, Bryan Bresee, is the type of player that a team with two RD1 selections should be excited about falling to them. He's a monster that can play DT or maybe even 5-tech in a 3-4 base, such as Seattle now employees. He is coming off an ACL injury in 2021, but he's been on the NFL radar for a few years now.

SEAHAWKS HISTORICAL DRAFT PICKS

Reach/Value (R/V) Explained
The difference between where a player is selected in the NFL draft versus where the player was listed on the final Drafttek Big Board for the season in question.
Example: A player who was listed at #50 on the Big Board and was selected at #35 will be a "Reach" of -15. Alternately, a player listed at #35 on the Big Board who was selected at #50 is a +15 "Value".

Simply put: a positive number is a Value pick, a negative number is a Reach.
