PIT g NE (Draft trade)
The Steelers move up to grab one of the draft's top-tier tackles. Omar Khan in his first year as GM picks the first RD1 tackle since 1996. With Kenny Pickett entering his sophomore season, the team has not been shy about going all in to pave the way for an improved running game to take the pressure off the young signal caller. Jones will compete with Dan Moore for the starting LT role immediately with the loser becoming a quality swing tackle.
Jones is an incredible athlete from a size and speed perspective. Paired with those physical gifts, he's shown his skills on the highest stage possible as the staring LT for the CFB champion Dawgs. The Steelers like players on an ascending career arc, and with only 19 starts, Jones is just starting to tap into his potential.

PIT g CHI (C Claypool)
Steelers make a legacy pick here at a position of need. The Steelers love big, physical corners who can play man coverage. Porter is a monster at the catch point with 11 pass break ups for the Nittany Lions in 2022.

The Steelers have struggled to stuff the run in base defense since Alualu went down in 2021. The team finally fills that need with a powerful defensive tackle. A plus athlete with quick powerful hands, Benton has little upside as a pass rusher but squarely fills the gap on this team.

PIT g SF t CAR (Draft Trade)
The Steelers pick a long tight end to add some competition to that group. Returning to the front office's overt emphasis on the run game, Washington is a long bodied, powerful physical blocker with a big catch radius should help this team improve the run game and also give Pickett a safety valve in 12 formation. Picking him up at 93 is a nice value.

STEELERS HISTORICAL DRAFT PICKS
Reach/Value (R/V) Explained
The difference between where a player is selected in the NFL draft versus where the player was listed on the final Drafttek Big Board for the season in question.Example: A player who was listed at #50 on the Big Board and was selected at #35 will be a "Reach" of -15. Alternately, a player listed at #35 on the Big Board who was selected at #50 is a +15 "Value".
Simply put: a positive number is a Value pick, a negative number is a Reach.
