At offensive tackle, the Steelers are starting second year man Dan Moore Jr. and journeyman Okorafor, drafted by the team in 2018. Okorafor is a middling pass defender who gets no push in the run game. Although there's a bit more optimism around Moore as he's clearly still acclimating to the NFL game, neither of the starters are even considered an average tackle in the league.
When the Steelers signed 2 interior linemen and then released the mostly injured Zach Banner in March, the team appeared to be poised to draft a tackle this year. Apparently they didn't see the intersection of need and value and failed to pull the trigger in 2022.
Looking to protect developing QBs and improve a bottom-feeding run game, the team will likely need to bolster the tackle position in 2023. Paris Johnson has prototypical size and was the top ranked OT in the 2020 High School class. He spent last year at right guard and will finally start at LT this year. He'll have some versatility to him but perhaps lack polished technique as a tackle. This coming season is critical to show he's worthy of a RD1 pick.

STEELERS HISTORICAL DRAFT PICKS
Reach/Value (R/V) Explained
The difference between where a player is selected in the NFL draft versus where the player was listed on the final Drafttek Big Board for the season in question.Example: A player who was listed at #50 on the Big Board and was selected at #35 will be a "Reach" of -15. Alternately, a player listed at #35 on the Big Board who was selected at #50 is a +15 "Value".
Simply put: a positive number is a Value pick, a negative number is a Reach.
