Ron Rivera and Co. have never been good at hiding their hand from the rest of the league, but I don't think they care. It was clear from the outset that this team was a) happy with Howell at QB, b) wanted help at corner and c) wanted to bolster the offensive line. While I don't love that process, this group has drafted fairly well overall. Getting Emmanuel Forbes at 16 is a nice value, as he will be a plug-and-play starter at corner; but I have to wonder why Forbes was the pick over Christian Gonzalez. The argument would be that Forbes has better ball skills and might have better instincts in zone. I trust Rivera and Del Rio to identify a DB for their scheme.

Illinois defensive back Jartavius Martin projects as a big nickel safety in the NFL.
"Quan" Martin has the requisite size, physicality, and tackling ability to make himself a valuable subpackage defender in today's NFL game. Martin's tackling skills make him a capable defender against the run and a prospect capable of commanding the majority of snaps in an NFL defense. Martin is one of the Best tackling DB's in this years draft!

The Commanders add an athletic center with good positional intelligence. At worst, he will provide competition for Chase Roullier who is trying to return from his injury. Whether he starts or develops as a replacement, there have been quite a few centers taken in this draft class.

COMMANDERS HISTORICAL DRAFT PICKS
Reach/Value (R/V) Explained
The difference between where a player is selected in the NFL draft versus where the player was listed on the final Drafttek Big Board for the season in question.Example: A player who was listed at #50 on the Big Board and was selected at #35 will be a "Reach" of -15. Alternately, a player listed at #35 on the Big Board who was selected at #50 is a +15 "Value".
Simply put: a positive number is a Value pick, a negative number is a Reach.
