You have to think the Giants sang their sweetest song to New England. It was always a fantasy that a team in need of a quarterback would pass on a guy like Maye. Having said that, this is quite telling of how the New York brass felt about McCarthy. It seems like only yesterday that Giants fans were left baffled at the selection of Daniel Jones -- at pick 6 no less. Should they have taken the flyer on McCarthy's untapped potential? That alone had some speculating that he could be in play for Washington at pick 2.
I love that NYG selection of Nabers. They need playmakers in that offense, and Nabers has the potential to be Odell Beckham Jr. without the drama. He's a strong player off the line of scrimmage, with great body control in his routes. Most importantly, he's a running back once the ball is in his hands. Whether Daniel Jones is the long-term fit at QB or not, the Giants need a guy like Nabers in the huddle.

While I viewed Cooper Dejean as a safety -- the top one in the class at that -- there were a lot of scenarios in which I would have taken Nubin ahead of him. Instincts are such a vital part of playing safety, and Nubin's instincts jump off the tape. Whether he's lined up deep, in the box, or in the slot, he makes quick reads and jumps into action. His angles of pursuit are typically on point. He may not have tested off the charts, yet he's always the first to get to the ball. Very good pick by the Giants. Grade: B+

GIANTS HISTORICAL DRAFT PICKS
Reach/Value (R/V) Explained
The difference between where a player is selected in the NFL draft versus where the player was listed on the final Drafttek Big Board for the season in question.Example: A player who was listed at #50 on the Big Board and was selected at #35 will be a "Reach" of -15. Alternately, a player listed at #35 on the Big Board who was selected at #50 is a +15 "Value".
Simply put: a positive number is a Value pick, a negative number is a Reach.
