Baltimore's defense might be standing in the way of Lamar Jackson capturing his first Super Bowl. Yes, it's still early in the season to count Baltimore out in January, especially given that they recently rattled off five conseuctive victories before falling to Jameis Winston and the Cleveland Browns.
But the lack of week-to-week improvement defensively is causing much of Baltimore to worry. The Ravens are still stopping the run (1st in NFL), but continue to give up too many passing yards (last in NFL). Baltimore has not gotten much of anything from safeties Marcus Williams, who played zero snaps against Cleveland, and Eddie Jackson, while corner Brandon Stephens also appears to have taken a step back.
But the answer to fixing Baltimore's future pass defense might start with continuing to build in the trenches. The Ravens are still getting production from Kyle Van Noy (7 sacks) and Odafe Oweh (4.5 sacks), but a young EDGE needs to be added to the mix. David Ojabo was a healthy scratch against Cleveland, and it appears that the Oweh/Ojabo combo that Baltimore had hoped would haunt quarterbacks for the next decade might be in its final days.
Jack Sawyer won't provide too much as a pass rusher either, but he's tough and physical in the run game, and has just enough finesse to irritate opposing QBs. A front seven led by Nnamdi Madubuike, Travis Jones, and Jack Sawyer just screams AFC North.

RAVENS HISTORICAL DRAFT PICKS
Reach/Value (R/V) Explained
The difference between where a player is selected in the NFL draft versus where the player was listed on the final Drafttek Big Board for the season in question.Example: A player who was listed at #50 on the Big Board and was selected at #35 will be a "Reach" of -15. Alternately, a player listed at #35 on the Big Board who was selected at #50 is a +15 "Value".
Simply put: a positive number is a Value pick, a negative number is a Reach.
