2022 NFL Mock Draft

Selection Comment - Pick #27

Return to Mock Draft

Kansas City
Jalen Catalon

The Chiefs are facing an employment shortage on the defensive side of the ball next season. Three D-line starters hit free agency in 2022: Nnadi, Reed, and Okafor. The only Safety signed beyond this season is Juan Thornhill, who has spent half the season in the coach's doghouse. Also, LB Anthony Hitchens, whose contract counts for over $22 million in cap space, is expected to move on. Pressed against the salary cap ceiling, Brett Veach should depend on the draft to NFL rebuild.

It is a good year to be in need of a safety. There is a plethora of top-end prospects entering the draft at this position. Expect the Chiefs to target one early.
