Hope springs eternal. The Vikings training camp officially began on July 27th and there is a new vibe on the team with the new coaching staff. There players appear to be happier playing for their new Head Coach, Kevin O'Connell. The news of each days practices varies with different players making plays like rookie Andrew Booth who had an interception and Lewis Cine who has been used in different spots. The team is instituting "a lot more 11 personnel," featuring one running back, one tight end, and three receivers. They have been rotating personnel groupings quite often which keeps everyone involved on offense.

The defense is looking much better already with Danielle Hunter back and Za'Darius Smith opposite him. Veterans Harrison Smith, Patrick Peterson, Eric Kendricks, Jordan Hicks, Dalvin Tomlinson, and Harrison Phillips are providing a solid foundation of experience and leadership. It can only get better as they continue on. This news has odds makers predicting the team will win at least 9 games which has the fans excited and hopeful for more. The playoff drought should end this year.

The Drafttek big board has 10 Cornerbacks and 4 Safeties in the top 35. The early indications are that these positions are the strongest for next year in the first round. The Vikings may be looking to use another first round pick on a Cornerback as Patrick Peterson and Chandon Sullivan are both signed for 1-year deals. Joey Porter Jr is 6'2" 198 and is entering his redshirt junior season. He has increased his snaps played each year and is expected to lead the CB room for Penn State. He brings size, length, and physicality to the position.
