2023 NFL Mock Draft

Selection Comment - Pick #23

Return to Mock Draft

Malachi Moore

Despite having made the playoffs in four of their last five seasons, the Eagles haven't finished better than 9-7 since their 2017 season ended with a Super Bowl victory (they were 13-3 in the regular season.) While regular season record doesn't determine playoff success, breaking that double digit win barrier feels important for a team that is looking to re-establish itself as a contender with a talented young corps of players and head coach who exceeded expectations in year one.

Philadelphia boasts a deep defensive line and there is buzz around new pass rusher Haason Reddick, the much maligned LB corps is still coming together, but appears improved and deeper than years past. When looking ahead to the 2023 draft however, the secondary still stands out as a position that could require attention. CB James Bradberry and Safeties Anthony Harris and Jaquiski Tartt are all on one-year deals so adding to the group could quickly become a priority.

Luckily this year's draft class is deep with defensive backs of all shapes and sizes. Alabama's Malachi Moore could be a player to watch. Moore dealt with a foot injury in 2021 that lead to him losing his starting job down the stretch, but he showed his true potential in a stellar freshman campaign. if the now junior can recapture his pre-injury form his size/speed and ball skills would be more than welcome in the Eagles secondary.
