At this point, Orlando Brown is still a priority in the team's long-term plans. Coaches and fans alike were happy to see him finally report to training camp. Yet, the groundwork of a strained relationship is established. Brown delayed the process of hiring an agent until well into the summer, when he finally hired a rookie agent. Then, he effectively priced himself out of the Chiefs market. Franchise tag rules prevent the Chiefs from negotiating a long-term deal with Brown until after the 2022 NFL season. That is a long time to let uncertainty simmer. This is a "make it or break it" year for the LT.

Brown made it to the Pro Bowl by outplaying average defensive linemen during an eight-game stretch that started in November and elevated the Chiefs into the playoffs. But, against the elite pass rushers early in the season and in the playoffs, he was the one who looked average. Even if the two sides come to a contract agreement, I am in favor of adding an OT early in the draft. The RT position is manned by an assemble of tackles who would perform better if they slide over and play guard.
