It seems like the Jets had their hearts set on Odunze (for good reason), but they pivoted well. With McCarthy still on the board, they were able to move down for additional picks and still come away with one of the top prospects in this class. Although Tyron Smith is a future Hall-of-Famer, his injury history is quite long. Finding a long-term solution at tackle was always a need. They get one that could have easily been taken in the top 5-7 picks.
Fashanu is big and athletic. He showed a steady progression of development through his time at Penn State. If I had one critique, it"s that I would love to see him latch on better once he lands his punch inside. Still, he has the look of a player that can start on the offensive line for 10-12 years. Whether they start him at right tackle right away, or show a little patience with a veteran like Morgan Moses in house and groom him for the left side, one thing is for sure.
Fashanu"s best is yet to come, and he"s already pretty good.
