Detroit has not been afraid to be aggressive in the NFL draft. Here, they were not going to let Arnold drop any further. Many thought the breakout star would go in the top half of the first round. The Lions pounced up to 24 to steal a player that should be a day-one starter.
Arnold plays with a chip on his shoulder, which is just what Dan Campbell likes in his players. He’s not afraid to be physical, and he still has untapped potential that can come to light with further experience. Giving up a 3rd-round pick was a little rich, but not for a guy that had no business falling to the mid-20’s. Grade: B
