GM Joe Hortiz and HC Jim Harbaugh put their stamp on the Chargers in their first season by
fortifying the trenches with the consensus top OT in Notre Dame's Joe Alt. Alt was a three-year starter with 33 starts at left tackle, though he'll project to right tackle with Rashawn Slater as an incumbent on the left side.
Over the past two seasons, Alt has allowed just one sack and 13 pressures over 774 pass block reps. He's been equally impressive in the run game, posting elite run block grades each of the last two years with a blown block rate of 0.9% on running plays in 2023. Alt, at 21 years old with a
RAS of 9.93, is the rare combination of both high floor and high ceiling. Alt is a blue-chip prospect that should help establish a physical identity in the run game while providing immediate high-level pass protection for Justin Herbert.
