Through 8 weeks the Rams find themselves at the bottom of their division and yet, only half a game out of first place in what has been an underwhelming first half of the season across the NFC West. While the Rams have manage a 3-1 home record, and won their first two games out of their bye, they need to find a way to win on the road after starting 0-3 away from So-Fi.
The primary cause behind the inconsistent play is a familiar one, injuries. But there has also been a familiar cause for optimism, as the rookie class is already paying early dividends. 2024 RD 1 pick EDGE Jared Verse is making a stong case for defensive rookie of the year, and RD 6 pick WR Jordan Whittington, helped step up to fill the void when injuries held out star receivers Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp. Year after year the Rams find players who are always ready to step up when called upon.
In fact, LA's ability to build up their roster and find talent in later rounds should let them explore their option in RD 1 and not force a pick, though landing a LT should be on their mind.
Not liking the value at OT, the Rams opt to add another pass rusher, Ohio State's JT Tuimololoau. While he may not have the athletic profile of some other top pass rusher's, Tuimololoau is a high IQ player whose instincts always put him in the path of the ball. He'll need to refine his pass rush plan, but would be a strong addition to the current tandem of Verse and Young in LA.
