Will the real Buffalo Bills please stand up? Following an offseason of doubt after the roster had to be severely altered and a plethora of important veterans were no longer a part of the program, the Bills started out with three absolute dominant performances on their way to 3-0.
The offense seemed unstoppable behind a nearly perfect Josh Allen. And a depleted defense-one that lost arguably 3 of its 4 most important players to injury by halftime of week one-looked more than capable as the team had the best combination of defensive and offensive EPA by a longshot.
Sunday Night Football painted this team in a different light, however, as the Ravens absolutely dominated both sides of the line of scrimmage en route to a 35-10 drubbing of the Bills. Buffalo was completely outcoached.
New DC Bobby Babich can't play light boxes on 79% of the opponents' snaps in heavy personnel and OC Joe Brady needs to stick with the pre-snap motions that helped Allen identify defenses before the play. Both of these seemingly insane overthoughts led to the Bills being hapless on Sunday night, and Sean McDermott's, 'We'll have a
long talk about that,' response seemed like a father about to put his boys in timeout. Let's hope the young coordinators can learn from their mistakes moving forward.
