After Week 4, the Jags stand at 0-4, the NFL's sole winless team. Offensively, Trevor Lawrence is regressing. His 53.3% pass completion rate would have have been
mid-pack in 1965, but here in 2024 anything under 60% would herald admission to the benching watchlist. Lawrence's 79.0 NFL Passer Rating ranks 26th in the NFL, behind the likes of Gardner Minshew and Daniel Jones. At this point we hope OC Press Taylor and Lawrence can turn things around in the NFL's second quartile. No need to think about a QB in the Draft just yet.
Defensively the team ranks at or near that bottom in a raft of statistical categories. We were uneasy when lead CB Tyson Campbell was awarded a rich $19M per year (over 4 years) contract, given his injury history. Well he's on IR again with another hammie, the
earliest he can return is Week 6. Those left in the CB room are not impressing the gang over at PFF, nor opposing QBs. Montaric Brown, Ronald Darby and rookie Jarrian Jones sport Passer Ratings Against scores of 90.2, 132.1 and 111.6.
A high-round draft pick for a CB is likely in the 2025 Draft, however if the team will be picking in the bottom-5, DL Mason Taylor provides much more value at another need position.
